Santa Fe's 1050-class Prairie types enjoyed a remarkable degree of preservation.
The 1080 displayed at Brownwood, TX is one of nine surviving examples. The 1992 photo at left
shows the engine looking somewhat forlorn and forgotten in Riverside Park. In 1999 the 1080
was repainted and moved to a more conspicuous location next to the restored Santa Fe depot
and Harvey House in Brownwood. The photo above, by Leo Persick, shows the engine in its new
quarters.
