Blackwell, OK

After about 1912, the pattern of new brick "county seat" depot construction on the Santa Fe seemed to drift away from "cookie cutter" common plans to a unique plan for each building with some common family characteristics. The handsome depot at Blackwell, OK was built in 1916, and was apparently one of a kind. The trackage through Blackwell is now operated by Watco, and the depot was standing boarded up and forlorn when Shane Murphy took these photos on January 27, 2005.
