The Boron depot was originally constructed at Kramer, CA in 1896. It was moved to Boron in 1941 and survived as an open agency until 1982. The depot consisted of a small office/waiting room with its long axis perpendicular to the tracks, and a separate baggage room that strongly resembled a section tool house. In 1987, the office portion was moved to the nearby 20 Mule Team Museum. The baggage room remained trackside. When these views were recorded in 1995, both buildings were painted in the red with white trim color scheme that was applied to structures in various parts of Arizona and California in the 1970's. By the late 1990's, the baggage room had been repainted white by the BNSF. In the view below, the office portion of the depot would have stood just beyond the baggage room with the bay window facing the tracks. |
