Colton, CA |

The modest depot at Colton followed the Spanish Colonial pattern found on larger Santa Fe depots throughout southern California. Built in 1927, it was retired in 1979 and stood vacant for many years. By the time this photo was taken in May 2000, the depot had been converted to offices for a nearby LSI facility. Though the station no longer serves the railroad, it would have been nice if the signal department had been a little more discreet about the placement of the new signal bridge and shanties in the foreground. |
