Escondido, CA

Southern California had some of the fanciest frame depots of anywhere on the Santa Fe. The Escondido depot was built in 1887 with a plethora of decorative touches. The extended eaves and covered platform had been trimmed back by the time the depot closed in 1978. In 1985, the depot was moved to Grape Day Park and restored to its original appearance. Neil Ryle photographed the "town" side of the building in the late 1980's.
