Florence, KS

The Florence, KS depot stood unused but more or less intact when the above photo was taken in 1990. Its style is typical of the brick depots Santa Fe was building in Kansas and Colorado ca.1906-07, with the exception of the boxy addition to the freight room. Twelve years later, Paul Souter found the depot boarded up but still intact (top left). A rear view by Ken Talbert the same year shows the carriage porch, a common but not universal feature on this style of depot (bottom left).
