Hemet, CA

This depot on the San Jacinto branch at Hemet was built in 1914. A portion of the freight room from the previous frame depot was incorporated into the new structure. The second floor was to have been the agent's quarters, but apparently was never used as such. The agency closed in 1968. The photos at left by Neil Ryle show the depot in 1990, a year after a preservation group acquired the depot from the railroad. The top photo by Chuck Clope shows the results of their restoration efforts by the late 1990's.
