| Henrietta's handsome brick station was one of several depots in Missouri and Illinois that remained on-site to serve maintenance of way forces after its agency closed in 1982. Like most of the other survivors, Henrietta was heavily modified to fit its new role. The former waiting room was converted into a garage, complete with a roll-up door, and several windows were bricked shut. The overall appearance of the building remained, however.Henrietta was once a junction for the branch to St. Joseph, MO. The disused and nearly invisible track behind the depot in the lower view at left is a remnant of the branch, the last piece of which was abandoned in 1984. Photos by Sam Bailey, January 2001. |
