Built by the Minkler Southern (a Santa Fe subsidiary incorporated to construct the Porterville-Orosi district), the Orange Cove depot opened for business in 1915. The depot was similar to the two-story "Standard 2a" common on the coast lines, but with a shorter freight room. The depot was retired in 1977 and subsequently converted into the City Hall. The rails in front of the building were not long for this world when the above photo was taken in 1995. |
