Rialto, CA

In 1946, Santa Fe replaced the frame depot at Rialto with a simple but attractive stucco and brick building whose outline was generally similar to frame buildings at Pinole, CA and Grants, NM. Following retirement in 1965, the building was moved offsite. Some admirable detective work by George Angelini and Matt Jackson finally turned up the structure serving as an office for the A.T. Curd Co., a precast concrete company. These Matt Jackson images show the depot as it appeared in August 2003. The general shape of the structure remains, but otherwise the door and window arrangement is completely different.

In the late 1990's a new station was built to serve Metrolink passengers at Rialto. The building was built to resemble Rialto's original 1888 frame depot.
