Wilmore, KS

The 24x42' depot from Wilmore, KS is an example of one of Santa Fe's most frequently utilized standard depot designs. Originally built in 1887 with board and batten siding, Wilmore was one of several on the Englewood branch to be rebuilt with clapboard siding in 1923. The baggage room door was also apparently relocated at that time, as a pre-rebuild photo on p.20 of Pounds Santa Fe Depots - the Western Lines shows the door at the far right side of the front wall. Retired in 1965, the depot eventually found its way to Bucklin, KS (on the former Rock Island), where it is shown in 1990 as an historical display in its original colors of mineral red and bronze green.
