Long hood forward, yet...

Pointing out the inherent inflexibility of cabless units, here's Santa Fe SD45-2B "leading" a welded rail train at Shafter, CA in November 1998. Presumably the SD40-2 behind it has its cab facing the train so the engineer can observe the rail unloading operation and react accordingly. Still, the unfortunate power consist does make for an awful lot of long hood to look down when the train inevitably has to run to the nearest siding to clear up.
