Santa Fe SPSF SD39 1570
Click for additional information about SPSF-painted SD39's
Freshly rebuilt SD39 1570 was still missing numberboards and batteries as it rested
outside the San Bernardino shops in January of 1986 (above). Three years later (below)
Doyle Davis caught the unit working with a matching SPSF-painted slug in Colorado. Most
of Santa Fe's 6-axle slugs spent their lives in the railroad's hump yards at Barstow, CA
and Argentine, KS, but at least one other SD39/slug is known to have worked the flat yard
at La Junta, CO during 1989.
