BNSF SPSF C30-7 5193
Click for additional information about SPSF-painted C30-7's
Santa Fe C30-7 8150 was the third SPSF-painted C30-7 to receive a BNSF number.
It was "stickered" at Alliance, NB in February 1998, becoming BNSF 5193.
Drew Mitchem caught the unit trailing an SD70MAC later that year.
As the delivery of more BNSF SD70MAC's released C30-7's from coal service, the units
began to wander from BN coal territory back to their old haunts on the ex-ATSF.
Al Bowen found BNSF 5193 trailing two newer GE's on a westbound auto train over Cajon Pass
in California in August 1999. See the 'Chromes in Action section
for another view of this train.
Two more images of 5193 on an eastbound baretable train in northern California.
Unfortunately, the locomotive could only be used as a trailing unit, as it lacked
ditchlights, and airhorn, and probably some cab appliances. See the 'Chromes in Action section
for others views of this train.
