| A depressing number of captive cabooses have suffered the fate of Ce-1 999097. Neglected and unprotected, the car eventually fell victim to an arsonist. In most cases, the shell of the caboose remains intact, though in some cases the fire is hot enough to deform the cupola. The remains of 999097 were at Shawnee, OK in 1995, behind the Santa Fe depot-turned-museum. |
