Deming, NM

One of only a handful of "union stations" in New Mexico, this structure served both the Southern Pacific's Sunset Route and the Santa Fe's branch down from Rincon. The structure started out as a large 2-story depot and hotel, built to Southern Pacific designs, and was reduced to is present dimensions in 1930. It remains in use by railroad crews, and also serves as an unstaffed station for Amtrak's Sunset Limited. The view actually shows the "SP" side of the depot - the Santa Fe tracks run down the opposite side.
