Estancia, NM

The Estancia depot was original built at Lucy, NM on the Belen Cutoff in 1908. The design was an "Eastern Railways of New Mexico" 16x40 standard that foretold many of the changes that would be made to parent Santa Fe's #1 depot plan in 1910, including the bay window tucked under the main roofline and the placement of the baggage room door. The depot at Lucy closed in 1938, but remained on site until 1951, when it was moved to Estancia to replace the barn-like New Mexico Central depot at that location. The Estancia depot closed in 1969, and by 1985 was enjoying a second career south of town as an antiques shop.
