The Marion depot was one of several brick county seat depots built along the Western Lines in the early decades of the 20th Century. The "standard" county seat plans varied almost from year to year, and Marion, built in 1912, actually more closely resembles stations built a few years earlier than it does other county seat depots built in 1912 (see Holly, CO for a "typical" 1912 county seat depot). The building was in poor shape when photographed in 1991. |

Eleven years later, the tracks are gone, but the depot survives. In 2000, the Marion City Library and the City of Marion were awarded a KDOT Transportation Enhancement program reimbursement to help restore the structure. It will be renovated into the new city library. Paul Souter photographed the partially restored structure in 2002. |
