| Would that all repaints of genuine former Santa Fe cabooses were as convincing as this fake. Apart from the "Pratt Foods" lettering, the Ce-1 class road number, and the emblem on the wrong side of the bay window, the paint scheme on this former L&N caboose is a fairly accurate rendering of the one applied to the Ce-13 class bay window cabooses acquired with the TP&W in 1984. The car stands behind the unique, castle-like Santa Fe depot in Shawnee, OK, along with genuine Santa Fe caboose 999097. The "real" 999284, a cupola-equipped Ce-1 car, was sold to Metal Processing Industries in Vinton, TX in 1987, and presumably was scrapped. |
